What I Do

Post Partum Recovery

New moms face unique challenges while recovering from pregnancy and delivery. Lack of sleep and poor nutrition can worsen these challenges. It is hard to know how to prioritize yourself when there is no energy or time to spare. Having a physical therapist early on can be invaluable to provide immediate relief and guidance on mobility and exercise to allow you to care for your newborn and heal your body.

Once you receive clearance to exercise, we will provide appropriate guidance for how to progress exercise and gradually incorporate weight training and running. This will give you the peace of mind that you won’t experience worsening symptoms of pelvic organ prolapse, diastasis recti and incontinence.

My mobile practice, Nicole Meyer Physical Therapy and Wellness, offers personalized care tailored pregnancy and postpartum. I loved being pregnant and while I know not everyone loves the journey, it is my goal to help women feel confident in their body so that they can be present during every stage. As an exclusive pumper for 28 months I am passionate about supporting moms through their breastfeeding journey by doing lymphatic drainage and ultrasound for those with recurrent clogs and mastitis. I love to educate people about how to stay strong and painfree throughout there pregnancy as well as providing education about perineal massage and birthing positions to optimize birthing outcomes.

I am also committed to helping postpartum moms while their body transitions to the many new activities required to care for a newborn. I have a strong focus on manual techniques, providing corrective exercises and optimizing alignment to allow you to care for your newborn and heal your body. As you are ready to return to activity, I use evidenced based medicine to follow the research and integrate with my 18 years of experience as an orthopedic physical therapist and lifelong athlete. I am passionate about providing multidisciplinary care, looking at all aspects of the person-emotional, physical, mental and spiritual- to align with their beliefs and empower them to live the life they have dreamt of.

As an exercise and movement specialist I’ll teach you how to strengthen your body throughout your pregnancy. This includes specific movement screens to identify areas that need to be prioritized for delivery and to prepare your body for life with a newborn
