The trend in business may be to niche down but I embrace the breadth of my expertise and passions. Over the course of my career I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of individuals and enjoy working with a variety of patient's.
While pelvic health is at the heart of what I do, my expertise spans many other areas. Some of the conditions I treat include:
Sports Injuries: An active athlete in my earlier years, I’ve seen how injuries can ruin a career. From ACL prevention training to treatment for strains, sprains I’m committed to helping athletes return to the sport they love.
Growing Pains: I am experienced working with the pains many kids experience during growth spurts. I treat patellofemoral pain, heel pain from Severs and knee pain due to discomfort from rapid growth (Osgood Schlatters). I’ve always been pleasantly surprised by the rapid improvement kids can make with some focused physical therapy. Aint’ youth great?
Hips, knees and shoulders: Okay I’ll admit that’s a pretty big category, but I wouldn’t be an orthopedic therapist with more than 15 years of experience if I didn’t enjoy working with these major joints.
TMJ Dysfunction and Headaches: In my most recent position I had the privilege of being trained by the owner who was on the Board for the American Academy of Orofacial pain. Because of this I saw lots of patients for jaw pain, clicking, and dysfunction caused by tension, stress, or injury. While it seems strange, there is actually a lot of overlap with the pelvic floor!
Cervicgenic dizziness: While neck is not frequently considered as a source of dizziness, proper treatment can yield significant relief from feelings of imbalance, being unsteady and having difficulty navigating complex situations such as after concussisons. It’s frequently seen in patients with TMJ which is why I sought further continuing education to fully address my patient’s complaints. It involves visual and cervical accuracy retraining in addition to hands on therapy and strenghtening to optimize joint mechanics and equalibrium through the head and neck region.
Peak Performance: Before I committed going into PT I considered entering strength training and conditioning after a lifetime of playing sports. I enjoy working with athletes to help them get back to the sport they love. I love to dissect the complex movements involved in sports and evaluate what each patient needs for optimal performance. Maybe it’s looking at how to develop explosive power looking from the foot and ground up all the way to pressure considerations to keep you doing what you love.
