TMJ and Headaches
What Is TMJ?
The Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) is the jaw joint. People with Temporo-mandibular (TMJ) dysfunction can have pain due to stress, chronic clenching, abnormal disc movement, trauma, poor posture, dental procedures, and even pregnancy.
When you have pain in your head and neck, it can feel isolating as you experience fatigue with talking and difficulty eating typical foods. It is hard to feel at your best when you cannot communicate your needs and provide nourishment to your body the way you want.

How Can We Help
Soft tissue massage, joint mobilization and manual therapy can be helpful to address trigger points reproducing head and neck pain.
Postural exercises are helpful to optimize TMJ alignment and minimize strain on the ligaments and disc
Joint mobilizations of the TMJ joint can minimize crepitus and joint noises as well as improve mobility in the case of limited mouth opening
Joint stabilization exercises and Robocado exercises are useful in providing more stability in the joint and minimizing progression of pain and dysfunction
Myofunctional assessment to assess factors perpetuating chronic tension and grinding.
